It's been years since Painted Romans received any kind of
public mention. Years indeed. Once, back in 2008, the name
did enjoy a little bit of interest as a welcome consequence of
the first long-player, 'Evil Wigs and Bedroom Moments'. But
this interest was quick to implode as the band constellation at
the time was put on a hiatus - i.e. vanished. In the years
that followed, the Romans were basically one until about 2015,
when Monica Ruud and Thomas Sejnæs joined as live members
and thus made it possible to perform again. And so we did.
- New music is in the making too. New constellations. Why
not mark it with a compilation of a handful selected personal
favourites of mine? The songs have been amassing ever since
the time of that first (’original’) Wallpaper Silhouettes tape way
back in 1994. Too much material is destined for the scrapheaps,
and I worry about that. Indeed, I should! This current compilation
contains snapshots from the analogue and digital realms of
Winterscene Studio (the portable 1!). Sometimes dirty.
Sometimes clean. Recorded in a night. Recorded over years.
They were made with great love. With great pain. In bleak
worlds. In dark worlds. With despair. Without hope. With hope!
Always with that great, eternal love.
